So, I heard that we might be getting increased space in our bags ‘soon’ … this according to a blue post on the World of Warcraft forums. Well, we have all been disappointed by Blizzard’s definition of ‘soon’ before. When you have an open ticket to a game master, for example, you are told that it will be answered ‘soon’ … an hour later isn’t my idea of soon, but hey! I’m usually happy to get it answered 🙂 …
Further on in the same forum thread, a green poster very kindly reminds the readers of what ‘silly’ actually means. In the Wowwiki entry for ‘soon’, it says the following: Copyright 2004-2007 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved. “Soon” does not imply any particular date, time, decade, century, or millennia in the past, present, and certainly not the future.
“Soon” shall make no contract or warranty between Blizzard Entertainment and the end user. “Soon” will arrive some day, Blizzard does guarantee that “soon” will be here before the end of time. Maybe. Do not make plans based on “soon” as Blizzard will not be liable for any misuse, use, or even casual glancing at “soon.”
I cannot tell you how much I chuckled when I read this (it was a lot) … it’s incredibly clever, and should make those of us who think we can expect more bag space anytime in the Real World definition of ‘soon’ to think again.
