Morning Walk

Morning Walk

Apparently, I have turned into a morning person. We get up at least 3 days a week at 5 to head to the gym, and it turns out I kind of like it.

The other days, I have been waking up naturally, no alarm clock or anything at around 6. On weekdays, I’ve been getting up – I have to make sure the kids are out of the house by 6:45 anyway.

Yesterday (a Saturday), I woke up and tried lounging around in bed. Ho hum. Definitely wasn’t going back to sleep, so I grabbed my iPad and checked my morning websites. Played a few rounds of Words with Friends. Made it to 6:50. Then, I thought, I could stretch a little in bed. Hubbie rolled over and asked why I was flopping around so much. So I got up.

This morning, I thought, why waste it? I woke up at 6:05, got (quietly) out of bed, so I wouldn’t disturb the snoozer. Got Buzz, headed out the door, and took my dog to the South Platte River Park. With the Nikon of course.

The parking lot was empty when we arrived. We went for a walk, I set up my tripod, and Buzz did some swimming. It was AWESOME.

I was back home by 7:15, hubbie was just waking up, and I put on a pot of coffee. Fabulous! It’s now 9;15 AM, and I have already achieved!

Oh – and when we got back to the parking lot, it was FULL. Apparently, the world is full of morning people!

Voss Water

The Cart

This week’s shopping cart – well, the Whole Foods version anyway. This does not include the stops at Costco and Target.

I am actually very very disappointed to find out that Voss water does not come from Voss. At least, this is what my sister tells me. It still tastes like granite though. Amazing, but true. I can TASTE that it comes from Norway. Other water does not have the same mineraly taste.

Maybe it’s a marketing trick, and I cannot taste this at all, but I am convinced. Someone should give me a blind taste test one day.

It’s ridiculously expensive, but I allow myself one or two a week. Homesickness is a funny thing.

So, we noticed this summer that the eldest has a VERY sedentary lifestyle – and decided it was time to do something about it. It was starting to show up in a very slight pudginess, and I thin that’s a really sad thing for a child who’s only 13.

Well, when we started thinking about it, we realized it had probably been about 6 or 8 weeks since we’d been to the gym ourselves.

So, we decided to get him a few personal training sessions and head back to the gym with him.

This is the second week in a row that we have completed 3 training sessions. The eldest goes once a week to his trainer, and we work out while he’s there, and then we all do our own thing 2 times a week. We have to go early morning, otherwise it won’t get done. So we head out at 5:45 am … some say insane, but it works for us.

So far so good! I’m starting to feel a LOT better – I think it actually does wonders for my sleep and my mood. Maybe the energy is coming!

And we get to see sunrises like this!
